Basketball Parents!

Youth Basketball Parents play have a major role when it comes to their young child success on the basketball court. It can also be said that Youth Basketball Parents play a very significant role when it comes to the coaches success as well.

The younger kids need a parent that is going to support them in a positive way. Instead of always talking down to them in such a negative way when they do make a mistake on the basketball court.

Parents, also play a important role when it comes down to a coaches success. That is why it is important that the parents let the coach do his or her job.

What parents also have to realize is that they have to support the coach a 100% in their decision making. Parents can make a coaches job easier when they are supporting him or her when coaching their child.

Basketball Parental Tips



Tip #1: Allow your the player to learn and get a feel of the game.


Tip #2: Don't put added pressure on the player. They are already putting pressure on themselves to succeed for you.


Tip #3: Allow the coach to do his or her job doing the game. Don't try to coach the player from the stands.


Tip #4: Encourage the player to go out and make mistakes. That is how we learn as basketball players.


Tip #5: Don't chew the player out in the car after they have played a bad game. Encourage them to do better the next game.


Tip #6: Don't talk about how great your player is to other parents. They may get offensive because their player may not be that good yet.


Tip #7: Don't live your dream through your player. You already had your time.


Tip #8: Never confront the coach about your player in front of other parents. Always do it behind close doors. That is a sign of a mature parent.
