Basic Basketball Passing Tips
Basketball Passing Drill & Tip #1: Chest Pass
The chest pass is one of the easier passes to make but yet you have to be very accruate. In order to complete the chest you have to aim the pass directy to the receivers chest. Always make sure step towards the receiver to generate speed to the pass. And second make sure you follow through with your facing out when you have excuted the pass.
Basketball Passing Drill & Tip #2: Bounce Pass
The Bounce Pass uses the same technique similar to the chest pass. You have to make sure you generate enough spin and speed to the ball. The bounce pass should always hit the receiver around the waist. The bounce pass is normally excuted when the receiver is going back door and/or trying to get open.
Basketball Passing Drill & Tip #3: Overhead Pass
When excuting the overhead pass you always make sure the ball is straight above your head. Never, Never place the ball behind your head. It will not produce a accruate pass. Your legs should never bend. And be sure to take one step towards the receiver and follow through when making the overhead pass.
Basketball Passing Drill & Tip #4: Post Entry Pass
The Post Entry pass can be excuted in several ways. The most effiecent one is the wrap around pass. It takes patience and proper footwork to excute this pass. First you want to make sure you protect the ball. Remember you will have a defender guarding you so you want to fake high and then through low by simplying using your left or right hand. Keep both hands on the ball until you go to make the pass and then simply bounce it to the post receiver.
Basketball Passing Drill & Tip #5: Baseball Pass
The baseball pass is another simply pass to make but you need to use good judgement. This pass is normally used when you are taking the ball out of bounds and when you are try to get the ball up court quickly. When making this pass you want to make sure the ball is up by your ear. Always hold the ball with two hands until you get ready to release it. You don't want to bring the ball to far back behind your ear, because it will create a bad pass. You will release your off hand and throw with one hand. However, be sure to snap your wrist when you follow through.
Basketball Passing Drill & Tip #6: Passing on The Move
When you are passing on the move there two things you have to be sure of. First, you have to make sure the receiver is ready for the pass. Second, you have to be sure that the pass is on time. This is where most passers fail. For example you have the receiver going back door and the passer is going to make the pass, but it usually ends behind the receiver. All because it is not a timely pass it gets to the receiver to late.
Basketball Passing Drill & Tip #7: Passing To a Player for a Break way Lay-Up
This is a really difficult pass. Two reasons why this is such a hard pass to excute. One, the passer has to make the pass in stride to the receiver. Which very few players can do. Second, the player has to come to a jump stop when he or she gets inside the 3 point line. Why? Because he or she can get called for a offense of foul due to the defender being set to take the charge.
